How do you get to Mürren and back?

On your own: neither flight includes the way to the meeting point.

The village of Mürren on its shelf above the Blumental valley, seen from the Schilthorn cable car between Birg and Mürren, August 2012.

Airtime's page says the journey to Mürren is free with a SwissPass and discounted with other travel passes. It meets next to the Schilthorn cable car station.

Switzerland Paragliding's page names both Mürren and the Stechelberg cable car as the start, so read your booking confirmation. Its cable car to the take-off is not included either.

You land at Stechelberg, on the valley floor, by the Schilthornbahn station. Airtime's page says a bus runs from there to Lauterbrunnen, or you can walk back past the waterfalls.

When can you fly from Mürren?

All year, except when it rains, says the Lauterbrunnen tourist office.

  • Summer

Switzerland Paragliding takes off from Birg, at 2,600 m.

  • Winter

  • The hour

For a thermal flight, Switzerland Paragliding says to book 11:20, 13:20 or 15:20: the same three times that take passengers over 90 kg.
